What Cake It Forward is

Cake It Forward is a community project, started by Curtis Crimmins, that connects people who want to give a birthday cake with people who would like one, local bakeries that make them, and volunteers who deliver them. We coordinate. We do not bake, and we do not employ volunteers or bakeries.

Requests

Anyone may request a cake for themselves or someone else. You confirm that the information you give is accurate and that you have permission to share the recipient’s details. A request is not a guarantee. We try to fulfill every approved request, but fulfillment depends on donor, bakery, and volunteer availability. We may decline or cancel a request at our discretion, and we will tell you if we do.

Gifts

Gifts are processed by Stripe and are generally non-refundable. Your gift helps cover the cake and related fulfillment costs: the bakery, delivery, taxes, and payment processing. One gift covers one birthday. When you choose a specific birthday and it cannot be fulfilled, or someone else covered it moments before you, your gift is applied to the next approved birthday that needs a cake. If a bakery donates some or all of a cake, the difference goes toward the next birthday. Monthly gifts can be cancelled at any time using the link in your receipt. Cake It Forward has not yet confirmed tax-exempt status; please consult a tax professional about deductibility.

Volunteers

Volunteers must be 18 or older and agree to follow the volunteer guidelines. Volunteering is voluntary and unpaid. You are responsible for your own vehicle, insurance, and conduct. We may pause or end a volunteer’s participation at any time.

Bakery partners

Bakery partners are independent businesses. They are responsible for food safety, licensing, allergen handling, and the quality of what they make. Prepaid orders are paid at the rate agreed with each bakery.

Allergies and dietary needs

We pass dietary needs to the bakery. We cannot guarantee an allergen-free product or kitchen unless a bakery specifically represents that capability. See our dietary disclaimer.

Acceptable use

Do not submit false requests, harass anyone you meet through the project, or use the site for anything other than its purpose. We may remove content and restrict access to protect people.

Liability

The site and the coordination we provide are offered as is. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Cake It Forward is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or from a cake, delivery, or interaction it helped arrange.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
